WHAT MAKES A CHOCOLATE TRULY GALAPAGOS?

For Judy and Rodolfo, it begins with the cacao itself.

Partners in life and in the art of chocolate, Judy and Rodolfo share a deep love for chocolate — a passion that eventually led them to their own farm in the lush highlands of Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos.

It was here that they discovered the remarkable potential of growing Arriba Nacional cacao, one of Ecuador’s most celebrated fine-flavour cacao varieties. Renowned around the world for its distinctive aromatic qualities, Nacional cacao is prized for its delicate floral character, complex fruit notes and rich chocolate flavour.

On their farm, the cacao flourished in the unique environment of the Galapagos. With its volcanic soils, equatorial climate and distinctive island ecosystem, Santa Cruz provided an unexpected and inspiring home for these extraordinary cacao trees.

And so, their cacao journey began.

A PASSION FOR CHOCOLATE

Judy and Rodolfo began their chocolate journey with just one creation: a beautifully rich 70% dark chocolate, allowing the distinctive character of their cacao to take centre stage.

Their passion and curiosity soon inspired them to experiment with new flavours. Today, their collection includes unique combinations such as lemongrass, coffee, sea salt and passion fruit, pairing their Galapagos-grown cacao with flavours that complement its natural character.

What began as a love of chocolate has grown into something that allows people to experience a genuine taste of Santa Cruz.

Today, Enchanted Galapagos Chocolate can be found in select stores throughout Puerto Ayora, giving visitors the opportunity to take a taste of the islands home with them.

And the journey has travelled even farther. Judy and Rodolfo’s second home on Vancouver Island, Canada, is another place where their chocolate can be enjoyed, and their bars are currently available at Millstone Farm & Market in North Saanich.
