Las Grietas, which translates to “the crack”, is a naturally formed crevasse or long fissure canyon and a favorite spot for locals and tourists to cool off. Its tall volcanic rock walls protect the 3 pools from currents, making it a perfect place to take in the beautifully staggering views and enjoy a relaxing swim.  As it is brackish water (a mixture of sea and fresh water), there isn’t much sea life, besides small fish, however the Opuntia cacti, Mangroves and rock walls make for a great place to view local brids and wildlife. 

Getting there

Las Grietas is approximately a 20 minutes away from the Enchanted Galapagos Lodge.  To get there, we can arrange transportation for you which will take you to the dock at Academy bay, from there you will catch a water taxi, approximately $1 USD each way (per person) to the other side (‘otro lado’ in Spanish).  From here it is a short walk to Las Greitas where you will be greeted by a guide.  It is approximately $10 USD per person to enter Las Grietas for approximately 90 minutes.  Please remember to bring cash as there are no other options of payment.
