The Island of Santa Cruz, Galapagos has many beautiful golden sand beaches along its coastlines. Relax alongside the local wildlife, such as marine iguanas, sea lions and birds, or cool off in the temperate waters or perhaps go for a surf. Santa Cruz Island has many swimmable beaches with excellent snorkeling spots as well. Tortuga Beach is a must-see when visiting Galapagos. With a 5km walk on lava rock cobblestones, it’s recommended to wear good walking shoes, and bring lots of water and sunscreen as there aren’t any kiosks or vendors at the beach. Another beautiful beach that is nearby the lodge is Garrapatero Beach. If you’re in the town of Puerto Ayora and don’t want to walk too far, check out the quiet Darwin Station Beach (near the Darwin Station).
Remember to keep a good distance away from the wildlife and protect the ocean and our sea life with reef safe sunscreen.
